My niece Al and her beau Jaryd came over after work, which means in the dark to help with Lori Ann Hicks Masasyu dogs.
We started with the microchip scanner, which was a mistake. Everyone but John Henry and Kittyhawk were unamused.
The others wouldn’t let the alien soul-stealing contraption (scanner) near them while wielded by the alien (me) who kidnapped them from their home (NY), stuffed them in the flying saucer (uhaul), and transported them to this alien Southern planet (Tennessee.)
So I went back and got dinner, plus Pro Plan Fortiflora for everyone, because we have had big changes in everything but poop, and I don’t want to risk that. Everyone but Gray and Wasp approached, sniffed the scanner over their dinner bowls, but wasn’t about to let it (me or the scanner) closer than that. Fair enough. I’m the alien who stole them and now I’m trying to probe them. Gray and Wasp, it was a big fat no.
Which contrasts starkly with the others’ attitude when we are outside the kennel. Then we get tail wags and sniffs and even some kisses from everyone but Gray, Wasp, and Crow. Crow came close, but backed off again, wagging but back in her doghouse she went. I’m very pleased with her progress, incremental as it is, progress not perfection.
So I told my helpers to pick one, sit on a bucket outside the kennel for now, and just talk to them. No, you can’t both pick John Henry, he is already trying to climb in your lap. 
So they did that while I scooped kennels. Naturally gravitatinf to Crow since she wants so desperately to be brave.
Next time I will give each of them a milkbone, if the dogs take it through the fence, they can have more. Maybe graduate to dropping their kibble through the fence into their bowls.
Meanwhile since John Henry and Kitty came right up to me with the scanner, I have their microchip numbers.
